Do You Think They Have Leagues?

Some major thunderstorms swept through this morning and we were all in the living room, getting ready for work/daycare. Daisy Dog is deathly terrified of thunder and lightening and, so, she was pacing the room, whining. Aidan asked me what was wrong with her and I told him that she was scared of the rain:
Me: Do you hear all of that thunder?
Aidan (exasperated): The thunder just means that the angels are bowling.
I can only assume that Nanney or Ms. DeeDee (his daycare teacher) told him this b/c I sure didn't! It was so cute :)

Just to tack on another Aidan-ism: The other night, he told me that he was way bigger then Ian, "I'm, like, 100 pounds taller!"

You Kiss Your Mother With That Mouth?!

Well, Saturday provided me with a "first" that I was rather grossed out by. I was in Ian's room, changing his crib sheet, and Ian was on the floor, playing with the fake food from Aidan's toy kitchen. Keep in mind that Ian is exercising his right to crawl and is into EVERYTHING! So, I look down and there's something hanging out of Ian's mouth that doesn't look right. I walked over to him to investigate and realized that he had dumped his diaper pail... yep, that's right, folks, Ian found a piece of poo that had rolled out of an old diaper in the pail and had stuck it in his mouth! I was horrified and immediately swiped his mouth (which, fortunately, he hadn't chewed on it or anything) all the while saying "Eww" and "This is so gross." Ian is none the worse for wear, he just happily moved on to playing with something else. I have taken to sitting the pail on top of the changing table when it's not in use to prevent such a mishap from happening again. Ah, the joys of parenthood :)
In other news, Aidan provided me with a good laugh last night. He pulled out his GI Joe truck and crowed "Let's play GI Jews, Mom!" I kept asking him what they were called just so he'd say "GI Jews" over and over again :) Later, as I was tucking him into bed, he asked me what was on my face (I've been breaking out really bad lately). I told him they were called pimples and that he'd get them when he was bigger, too. He was quick to bemoan the fact that he did NOT want "pumples" and that they looked itchy- he kept trying to scratch them for me. I really like the age of 3, apart from the crazy independence he tries to exert on a daily basis :)

It's been a while since I've posted- sorry! I'll try and get around to a "real" post soon. Until then, here's some pics of the boys!

How Now Brown Cow?

Photobucket
So... for a while now, Aidan has recurrent nightmares about cows. Yes, cows. I'm not sure when, exactly, the terror of bovines started (and, BTW, he's not scared of cows when he's awake- go figure!) but it's a real source of fear for him in the middle of the night. A couple of months ago, Wayne and I were watching TV and Aidan came stumbling down the hall, mumbling something about there being a cow in his room. Wayne took him back to bed and, not 2 minutes later, Aidan came running out his room, looking over his shoulder, yelling that the cow was back. Since then, he, occasionally, talks about cows in his room. And, no, he does not have any cow pictures hanging on the walls, cow toys, etc. that could, indeed, mean a cow is IN his room. Any way, this past Monday, he woke us up again by crawling into bed with us in the middle of the night. The next morning, I asked him why he got out of his bed and he told me that there was a cow in his room again. Before he went to bed last night, I told him to have Daddy tell the cows to stay out. Lo and behold, he stayed in his own bed the whole night! Out of nowhere this morning, he told me "Guess what, Mom? The cow didn't come into my room last night!" I guess we're going to have to start verbally banishing imaginary cows every night before bedtime....

Rock and Roll

Ian rolled over for the first time last night! He's been rocking himself about halfway over, but he still couldn't quite make it. He finally succeeded in rolling his fat little body over last night. I went nuts, of course, clapping and cheering for him. He rewarded me with a very confused look as to why Mommy was acting like a crazy person. I rolled him back over and called Wayne to come and see, to which Ian promptly laid flat as a board and smiled at me while thinking, "I am NOT a trained monkey, Mom. It's a no-go on another roll."

Cereal Time!

Ian wasn't all that impressed. Put a hamburger in front of him and he'll snatch the bun right off the top to try to shove in his mouth, but give him a spoonfull of oatmeal and he looks at you like you're trying to poison him :) Such a smart boy!

Tooth Fairy

The tooth fairy visited Aidan's class at daycare last week and he was telling me about her this morning. I have to say, very impressed that he listened so well! He told me that if you eat donuts, the sugar will get on your teeth and you'll get holes in your teeth called cavities. I asked him what the tooth fairy leaves under your pillow and he said "Oh, candy, granola bars, salad with ranch dressing, things like that." Salad with ranch dressing? That's a new one ;) Then, I told him I had to go to the eye doctor and he asked me if my eyes had cavities. Hmm... maybe the eye fairy needs to visit his class next!
